The first step in making a candle is to choose the candle wax. The most popular waxes are:

Paraffin wax, Soy wax, Palm wax, Beeswax, Gel wax / Candle gel, Rapeseed wax, Coconut wax

At www.candlehouse.hu we make soy wax candles. Why? Because we care about the quality of our candles and the environment.

What is wax?

Technically, the term “wax” refers to a flammable solid that becomes liquid when heated above its melting point.

What type of wax can we choose to make a candle?

Paraffin and soy wax are the most popular in candle making, but the choice of wax is primarily influenced by what kind of candle you want to make.

The choice of wax used for candle casting depends on a number of factors, including:

The shape of the candle

Personal preferences regarding the type of wax (all natural wax or not)

The amount of scent

The type of candle

Here is a list that is by no means complete:

Paraffin wax

Paraffin wax is made from a by-product of the oil refining industry. It is a light and affordable wax, but not very environmentally friendly. Paraffin wax candles burn faster.
